It was year 2020…

When everything took an interesting turn… Interesting being a very kind word for what 2020 has been.

My last post was in April of this year. Since then my life sort of took a turn. I don’t remember if I mentioned, but my family has went through a lot of change this year. Only some of it were due to Covid-19. We have had multiple loses in my family. I don’t know if I mentioned this as well, but my dad was a Pastor at our church, so I was pretty active there to support him in his efforts. This year there were circumstances that lead to my dad stepping down. So that affected both of us as well as the whole family. A lot of turmoil with the new leadership stepping in and bringing changes that everyone has had to adjust to. Which is ultimately a good thing, but does cause stress.

Other things that I ended up dealing with, were related to Covid-19, but they weren’t anything that other people aren’t dealing with this year. I started working from home, which as I mentioned in my previous post, I love. There is nothing better than taking a break from your work and stepping outside the office and being in the one place you love being the most, your home. I love the fact that my family is there as well, I can help my wife around the house. I have spent a bit of time helping my wife homeschool the kiddos as well. That part has been amazing.

The downside to that is the type of work I do, relies a lot on people contact, which is hard during a pandemic. Some weeks I spend all day on calls without every touching my actual work deliverables. The days do tend to run longer than when I was in the office. Having to intentionally schedule a meeting every time you want to speak with someone causes you to have to schedule out side of your normal work hours.

The other thing that has been cause a lot of stress lately is the way our political landscape is. I don’t remember it ever being this contentious in my 20+ years of living in the USA.

The stock market has been a little intense, I always regret not investing in the stock market, but then I also always lose sleep when I have tried to invest in it.

To add to all of that I am serious considering of moving from my current state to a some place calmer. To do that I have to remodel my current house and sell it and then buy a new one to move into. The logistical part of that is causing me to lose hair.

So as a conclusion to my personal life updates, it has been crazy!

On to the gaming update.

Not much of my gaming habits have changed during the year. I still play World of Warcraft. I still play Pokemon Sword and other games as my mood dictates.

I have started up playing Neverwinter Nights again, the enhanced edition. I also played a little bit of Pillars of Eternity and Pathfinder Kingmaker. Oh and also Tyranny.

I did get the new Microsoft Flight Simulator, that is probably one of the biggest steps forward in simulations world. I love to just admire how beautiful the game is and the effort that has been put into it. I might write a whole blog about that as well.

I have also for some odd reason bought the manuals for Dungeon and Dragons tabletop game. I have never thought I would be even remotely interested in something like that, but I do like reading the manuals. Maybe one day I will overcome my introvertedness and start up a group, but until then I really like to read about how you can create amazing imaginary world.

One thing that did take a major hit this year was my blogging. I just don’t have the time to do it. The mental energy that is required to write these posts for me has been lacking. I am hoping that once the craziness settles down a little bit I can get back to it.

This is all I wanted to write for this one, in my next one I want to talk a little bit about the World of Warcraft experience this year and the expansion, as well as the Pokemon game and it’s expansions.

The other games I have spent much less time in, but would still like to write a little bit about those as well.

So until next time my friends, stay healthy!
