To me at least. After all of the events in the past months, with the layoffs, the way that Battle for Azeroth is going, I have lost faith in Blizzard.
I don’t know how to explain the feeling I had when I realized – that was it for me as far as Blizzard went. It was like one day realizing your parents aren’t superheros I guess. I sensed that something was going on at Blizzard, that there were some undercurrents causing a lot of shifts. All the people I knew from the old school Blizzard were leaving the company, for different reasons, but leaving nonetheless. I decided to wait it out and give BFA a fair shake. Then the rumors of the financial side of the company taking over the creative side of things… is just horrifying
And then the layoffs came.
Blizzard was always considered to be one of few companies that were as solid as a rock in the gaming industry. But recently it has been proven otherwise.
I don’t know what to say, its just so sad. I had a feeling something like this was going to happen when Blizzard married Activision, and now… its disheartening to see what has become of it all.
The Blizzard I fell in love with as a kid, the guys who said its done when its done, and release will be “soon” is now turning into a company that has to release unfinished products. And that, my friends, is my worst fear becoming reality.
So as of now, I have stopped playing the current iteration of WoW. There are a couple things I am looking forward to, like WoW Classic and the remake of Warcraft 3. But other than that, I have lost all interest in Blizzard as a company.
And it sucks having to put this in writing.
We will see what the future holds.
